Musquodoboit Valley Home for Special Care (commonly known as Braeside) is a 29 bed Long Term Care facility providing Level 1 and 2 holistic care.  Braeside is a not-for-profit Community Governed Organization (CGO) managed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

We have an excellent reputation throughout the community for providing resident centered care which maintains dignity and maximizes independence.  

Our facility is located approximately one hour outside of Halifax in the village of Middle Musquodoboit, NS, with free on-site parking.

Type of Employment:

• Permanent

• Assignments (temporary)

• Casual Relief (No guarantee of hours)

Qualifications:

• Current Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse Graduate awaiting certification in Nova Scotia 

• Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse and current certification in Nova Scotia 

• BLS-C (HCP) certification 

• Certification in medication administration 

• Recent experience administering medication 

• Previous experience in Long Term Care as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse 

• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills 

• Able to work independently and as part of a team 

• Experience working in a team environment 

• Successful applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to Employer before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment. 

Under their scope of practice and in collaboration with patients and the health care team, the LPN/RN provides care for patients with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes. As the acuity or complexity increases and/or outcomes are not predictable, the LPN/RN provides nursing interventions, within their scope of practice.

Preferred (Considered an Asset):

Previous experience working in a rural and/or long-term care facility an asset or Continuing Care an asset.

Salary and Incentives:

NSNU Registered Nurse:

• $37.36 - $44.02 hourly

• $45.56 hourly with 25 years' experience

Licensed Practical Nurse:

• $30.06 - $32.28 hourly
